Background: Excessive gestational weight gain is related to postpartum retention and multiple short- long-term adverse outcomes. These include pregnancy complications as preeclampsia higher rates of cesarean delivery morbidities future obesity metabolic syndrome. Even so, more than half the pregnant women excessive during their pregnancy. Methods: This review included a database search Medline, ClinicalKey, PubMed, PubMed Central, Scopus, Ovid, Cochrane Database Systemic Reviews. We original articles, systematic reviews meta-analysis published in peer-reviewed journals between January 1990 October 2020 that addressed correlation gain, maternal health issues. Only articles English language were available at full length, this review. Results discussion: After reviewing literature, we discuss risk factors for association implications on women’s health.
